I decided that if I was going to do this, I should invest in some higher quality items so I went into Sephora. Holy cow! Good makeup is fricking expensive! So I got color matched (which I highly recommend), bought some foundation, and walked away kind of sad since I'm way too cheap to buy a lot of their stuff to experiment with.
Then I found ipsy. I've always been somewhat enamored with subscription boxes. It's like getting a little surprise present every month. Ipsy seemed like a fun way to try new types of makeup for fairly cheap ($10 a month). I'm justifying this as a good thing for my mental health. I have something silly to look forward to, I feel like it's a reward, and, the best part, it's not food :)
I got my first bag this month. I was a little bummed since they decided to focus on skin care this month, but I'm looking forward to next month.
Here's the bag for this month:
Here's the bag for this month:
It comes in a hot pink mailer, so you know when you get it.
The bag itself isn't as cute as some of the others I've seen, but it's still nice. It's made from some sort of plastic-y material so it has a funny smell.
In my bag I got Benefit POREfessional, Yaby Foundation, body cream, lip balm, and face wipes. The lip balm is full size and by itself retails for $12.
All in all, it was a fun little thing to get in the mail. I'm a little disappointed by the lack of makeup this month, but looking forward to next month. In case you're interested, you can sign up for ipsy here.
